Reince Priebus Stands By Hugh Hewitt, Megyn Kelly As ‘Fair’

With Hewitt out there publicly ripping Trump on more than one occasion, it’s raised concerns that perhaps after what happened in the recent Fox News-sponsored debate that he might not be much better of a moderator. Despite the obvious efforts by Fox News to swipe at Trump—efforts that clearly failed as evidenced by post-debate polling—RNC chairman Reince Priebus defended moderators Megyn Kelly, Chris Wallace and Bret Baier on the spin room floor after the debate.

Next GOP Debate Moderator Hugh Hewitt Comes Out Against Trump

Hewitt, a nationally syndicated radio host through Salem Communications, will, along with CNN’s Jake Tapper, moderate the next GOP debate on Sept. 16 at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. Salem Communications is the same company that owns Red State—whose founder Erick Erickson, a Fox News contributor, chose not to invite Dr. Ben Carson to his gathering of GOP candidates and activists this past weekend in Atlanta and disinvited Trump.

Donald Trump Funded Rand Paul’s Guatemala Eye Surgery Trip to the Tune of $10,000

While Trump hasn’t given directly to Paul’s political action committees, he has supported Paul’s charity work as an ophthalmologist. Last summer, Paul took a trip to Salama, Guatemala. This reporter was there, with representatives from NBC’s Meet The Press, the Washington Post, and National Review, as Dr. Paul performed charity cataract surgeries. Paul’s trip was with the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center, and a substantial portion of the trip was paid for by none other than Trump himself.

Teflon Don: Trump at 32 Percent in New Post-Debate Poll

Trump’s 32 percent is also up seven points over last week’s Morning Consult poll, which had him at 25 percent. The poll was conducted Aug. 7 through Aug. 9—Friday through Sunday—which means most of the polling was done not just after Trump’s debate performance in which he battled Fox News anchors seemingly determined to take him out but also after Friday evening comments about Kelly.
