(AP) Eliot Spitzer: Wife won’t appear on campaign trail
NEW YORK
Eliot Spitzer says his wife won’t be accompanying him on the campaign trail for New York City comptroller, noting “she’s got a career.”
The tarnished former governor tells the New York Post ( https://bit.ly/16gZmiT) that voters will judge him, “not who else is with me or not with me.”
He made the remark Thursday in the Bronx. He was asked whether his wife, Silda, would appear at his side during the campaign.
Spitzer added that he was the one running for office, saying “no other member of my family is running for office.”
Silda Wall Spitzer famously stood by her husband in 2008 when he stepped down as governor in a prostitution scandal. A former corporate lawyer, she now works for a private equity group where she focuses on investments in clean energy.
