Staying home with family and staying safe during this time has created many special memories. Moms, dads, and kids are eating together, playing games, watching movies, and just simply enjoying the company of loved ones.
Other than the backyard variety, however, one thing that is sorely missed is baseball. From watching MLB games on TV to playing in organized leagues, Americans are yearning for our national pastime like never before. According to President Trump there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.
Trump tweeted on Saturday: ‘To all of our youth who are missing the start of their @LittleLeague seasons, hang in there! We will get you back out on the fields, and know that you will be playing baseball soon…’
Trump continued ‘…We will get through this together, and bats will be swinging before you know it. In the meantime, take care of mom and dad, and know that this will not be forever! @littleleagueceo.”
As a high school coach, a parent/coach of two Little Leaguers, a college booster, an announcer, and a huge fan, I am missing baseball greatly. Our kids will be so happy once we get back to our great game. We all will be. For now, though, we stay at home to stay safe, and dream about that day when we are safe at home once again.
