Pro golfer Eddie Pepperell was disqualified on Thursday after handing in a scorecard with several errors.

Pepperell was eliminated from the European Tour’s Qatar Masters after officials found that he made several errors on his score, especially the 17th hole.

The golfer tried to explain what happened.

“My DQ today wasn’t due to me running out of balls, or hitting anyone, instead, I signed for a wrong score. My total, 71, was correct, and I indeed signed for that. However, my partner had me down for a 5 on one hole where I made a 6, and a 4 on another, where I made 3,” he wrote.

Pepperell added that he saw two errors on his card — holes 11, and 16 — but when correcting 16, accidentally altered hole 17.

The British pro insisted that it was all “Quite disappointing” but he accepts the rules “100 percent.” Still, he said he feels that the rule is “a fair distance away from common sense.”

This is the second time Pepperell has been disqualified. He was tossed from the Turkish Airlines Open last November when he ran out of golf balls during the third round.
