A high fly ball bounced off the head of one South Korean baseball player right into the glove of his teammate for an out, putting the term “heads up” a whole new light.
The shortstop for the Lotte Giants, Shin Bon-Ki, called a high fly ball just outside the infield but as the ball came down the player missed the catch, the New York Post reported.
But all was not lost because the ball bounced off the top of Bon-Ki’s head and ended up in the mitt of the team’s left fielder, Jeon Jun-Woo, who nabbed the ball for the out.
Shortstop Bon-Ki was unfazed by the bonking and continued playing, but the Giants still lost 4-3 to the Hanwha Eagles. Apparently, the Giants’ manager, Yang Sang-moon, really teaches his players to use their heads on the field.
The reaction of Eagles batter Jared Hoying is nearly as amusing as the gleeful reaction by left fielder Jun-Woo. While Jun-Woo jumped around after his catch like a kid with a candy bar, Hoying looked up to the sky with one of those “why me” looks and a shake of his head in shock over the miracle play.
