President Donald Trump congratulated NFL Draftee Nick Bosa for his good fortune after the NFL Draft, but because he did not also congratulate the #1 overall pick, Kyler Murray, who is black.
Lemon was caught by the TMZ Sports cameras and was asked about what he thought of the president’s tweet to Bosa, the NFL’s #2 Draft pick.
“Bosa is a supporter of Trump. [Bosa] doesn’t like Kaepernick. It’s everything this President is about,” Lemon replied.
“I think we should be congratulating the number one person [Kyler Murray] as the number one person made history,” Lemon continued.
“Don’t forget the number one person is also black,” Lemon concluded.
Of course, the only reason President Trump mentioned any NFL draftee at all is because Bosa was connected to Trump over the player’s well-known social media posts.
Bosa raised eyebrows early in April when he deleted all the conservative political posts on his social media accounts. The Ohio State defensive end said that he deleted the tweets, some of which praised Trump and others that criticized former NFL player and social justice activist Colin Kaepernick, because he did not want to upset the liberal teams that may look to draft him.
But that is just the point. Nick Bosa was tied to Trump and that is why the president mentioned him. Kyler Murray was not.
