Surviving in the sun can be a real struggle for football fans in Florida. However, that struggle has not gone unnoticed by the upper management of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And the solution they’re considering is something quite futuristic.
Jags Owner Shad Khan says that his team is considering using “artificial clouds” powered by drones. Khan heard the idea after it was proposed as a possible solution for keeping World Cup fans cool when the games come to Qatar in 2022.
“It’s very futuristic but it could be very cost-effective only on the days you need it,” Khan told First Coast News. “I don’t know how feasible it is, but as an engineer when I saw it I thought boy that would work very well for us.”
As Pro Football Talk notes, noise and safety concerns would have to be addressed with drones and shades hovering above a crowd. Which means the idea would first have to be tested. It’s unclear when or if, the Jags will conduct such a test.
