Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving is still not happy that National Football League rules do not let him smoke pot.
The troubled Irving jumped to Twitter on Tuesday to slam the league even hinting that he might refuse to play unless the NFL moves to allow marijuana, TMZ reported.
Irving has served multiple suspensions for violating the NFL’s drug bans and recently was suspended again, this time indefinitely.
Despite being available as a free agent starting this month, Irving’s recent tweet seemed to show that he intends to choose the drug over his football career.
“Well, once they do that, give me a call,” Irving reportedly tweeted. “Cuz it’s bullshit how I have Xanax bars n hydros right next to me to take, given to me by the NFL of course. However, we can’t smoke the same weed the staff itself smokes.”
Irving is a big fan of pot. He even noted in the past that he was “medicated” every time he has played for the NFL.
The player also called the NFL’s policy hypocritical.
“Check this, y’all wanna judge n say what’s right or wrong. These guys prescribe me Xanax bars , ambient , and painkillers , some of us , like myself have been smoking weed since 12,” he posted to social media last August.
Irving recorded 12.5 sacks in his four seasons with the Cowboys.
