Johnny Manziel had to wait a while and work very hard to find another team after his tumultuous and short-lived career in the NFL came to an end. Now, it appears that the Heisman winner will once again have to find a new team to play with.

Johnny Manziel was cut by the Montreal Alouettes for violating the terms of his contract with the team, according to TMZ Sports.

The team has not specifically said what part of the contract Manziel violated. Instead, they released a statement saying only that, “contravened the agreement which made him eligible to play in the league.”

Alouettes General Manager Kavis Reed also issued a statement:

We are disappointed by this turn of events. Johnny was provided a great deal of support by our organization, in collaboration with the CFL, but he has been unable to abide by the terms of his agreement.

We worked with the league and presented alternatives to Johnny, who was unwilling to proceed.

We are confident going into the 2019 training camp with a roster of quarterbacks that had played in our system last year and are committed to our team.

Manziel has had his fair share of trouble away from the football field. Leaving open the possibility that he could have violated his contract in any number of ways. It remains unclear if the team will disclose what caused them to resort to cutting the former NFL player.
