Most fans would likely consider baseball as the sport where onlookers would be most at risk for getting struck by flying objects, and those fans would be right.
However, on Monday night, hockey reminded us that things can get pretty real near the ice as well.
NHL reporter Pierre McGuire was in his normal spot near the ice, for NBC Sports Network’s broadcast of the Lightning and the Bruins. All seemed normal until a stray puck mad its way beyond the ice. A puck that nearly struck McGuire and smashed into a nearby camera.
The image shown by the camera is also one of the last things that hockey players and some fans see, before the puck hits them in the face. Thankfully, in this case, no one got hit in the face.
