Former Falcons star runner Jamal Anderson was arrested for public drunkenness in Atlanta on Sunday, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities were contacted by Anderson’s limo driver, after the former All-Pro back refused to pay $50 for the ride.
Anderson was arrested for public drunkenness and released on bond after posting the required $213.
According to Sporting News:
Famous for inventing the “Dirty Bird” touchdown celebration during the 1998 NFL season, his best as a pro (1,846 yards, 14 touchdowns on a league-high 410 carries), Anderson has had multiple alcohol-related run-ins with the law since retiring after the 2001 season.
In eight seasons, all with the Falcons, Anderson rushed for 5,336 yards and 34 TDs. He was a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection in 1998, when the Falcons advanced to the Super Bowl for the only time in franchise history but lost to the Broncos.
Anderson, 46, has had previous brushes with the law as well. Most seriously, in February of 2009 he was arrested for felony cocaine and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
