If anyone questioned whether the Bears had their signal caller’s back, those questions can now cease.
On Sunday, the Bears took on the 49ers in a game that was crucial for Chicago and not nearly as important for the long-since eliminated 49ers. However, despite the game’s importance as far as playoff seeding, the Bears offense delivered a fairly unenthusiastic and low-energy type of performance.
That is, until the 49ers tried to end Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky’s season.
With Chicago ahead 14-9 with just over five minutes left in the game, Trubisky raced towards the sideline to pick-up a vital, drive extending first down. In order to keep the clock running, Trubisky did not go out-of-bounds and instead turned up field and slid.
However, long after Trubisky had already begun his slide, 49ers defender Marcel Harris delivered an extremely late hit to the Bears QB. The play happened directly in front of the Bears sideline, and a melee ensued:
San Francisco cornerback Richard Sherman was ejected after the fight. As were Bears receivers Anthony Miller and Joshua Bellamy.
The Bears won the game, 14-9.
