Along with death and taxes, fights at NFL joint practices are one of the other guarantees in life. Earlier this week, the Redskins and Jets engaged in a wild brawl that spilled over into the fan seating area.
On Wednesday, the Texans and the 49ers wasted no time and got after it on the very first play of practice.
The trouble started after San Francisco cornerback Jimmy Ward knocked Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hokins’ helmet off:
As the Houston Chronicle reports, “Hopkins was sent inside to the practice bubble. Ward has remained on the field, but is just running on the side and is no longer practicing.”
Whenever a football player without a helmet fights another player with a helmet, it normally doesn’t work out for the guy without the helmet. That seemed to be the case here as well.
