The lead attorney for both Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid, is promising that big news is close at hand about the players’ “collusion” cases against the league.
Attorney Mark Geragos made the announcement on his Reasonable Doubt podcast released on June 23.
“I will just say stay tuned that next week there will be news on Kap and on Eric Reid. That’s all I can say right now,” Geragos said. “I’m going to say, as you’re listening to this, there will be news next week.”
The cases filed separately by the two former San Francisco 49ers players were filed after the pair found their talents left on the sidelines when they turned free agents. Both players famously spent a season protesting against the United States during the national anthem and both claim that the owners conspired behind the scenes to make sure no team would sign them in 2017 and beyond.
Kaepernick filed his case with the National Football League Players Association in October of 2017 while Reid filed his own in May of this year.
Little concrete news has emerged from the hearings of the two cases, but it has been reported that a long list of league owners, coaches, and officials have already testified. That list including John Elway, Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones, Baltimore Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, Seahawks General Manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll, and owners Bob McNair, Stephen Ross, and others.
