A handful of tweets with offensive content made by University of Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen when he was a teenager, have resurfaced just ahead of the 2018 NFL draft.
On the verge of the NFL Draft, Allen, a contender to be the No. 1 overall draft pick, was embarrassed with the racially charged tweets made when he was a youngster, which included multiple uses of the “N” word.
In one tweet he seemed to agree with white power sentiment saying “if it ain’t white, it ain’t right.” He also said he hated LeBron James for whatever reason.
Other troubling tweets included:
“@cheriishhh: i dont think you niggas want a troubled son!”

“@Alpha_Patlan: “@J_Prodigy_5: @Alpha_Patlan (uhh) stay schemin…” Niggas Trying To Get At Me. ” doe

“@FelipeeeeMelo_: Bout to show up these Niggas at pong. Gonna do for @j_prodigy_5 @AFlyer5 and @J_Sal_Forever_5.”:)

The tweets were made when Allen was around 15 or 16 years of age.
Thus far, the player has not released an official statement about the years-old tweets, but Allen did apologize for the tweets in an interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.
Smith also noted that he spoke to at least one team that has a top-five draft pick and was told they had not heard about the tweets and had “never heard anything but positives” about the player.
This isn’t the first time that a college player was vexed with off-color tweets made when he was a teen. Early in April, Villanova guard Donte DiVincenzo was slammed with offensive tweets he made when he was a teenager just as his team was clinching the championship.
UPDATE: According to ESPN, Josh Allen apologized for his offensive tweets in a conversation with Stephen A. Smith.
