Parkland, Florida, students and their families were flown to a gun control march in Washington, DC, on the New England Patriots’ plane.

The Boston Globe reports that team owner Robert Kraft sent the team plane “to fly the families of the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and some of the students who were injured to the nation’s capital for the event.”

The opportunity to travel on the team plane was extended as a favor to gun control proponent Gabby Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly.

Students interpreted use of the plane as an indication that the NFL team looked favorably on the gun control march. They subsequently thanked the team for “the support”:

The plane is a “Boeing wide-body 767 that features the team’s logo and an image of five Vince Lombardi trophies on its tail.”
