Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) said that being gay does not make someone a killer, after being asked about a new documentary on the murder trials and suicide of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.
Sen. Rubio was cornered by stringers from TMZ Sports and asked what he thought of the new Hernandez documentary Aaron Hernandez Uncovered. One of the main claims to emerge from that documentary, is that Hernandez turned violent due to a strong sense of self-loathing because he was secretly gay.
However, Rubio wasn’t buying this as an explanation for Hernandez’ behavior, saying, “I don’t think that’s relevant to killing somebody.”
Hernandez was convicted of the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. The player later committed suicide while in jail and his sexuality was pegged as the reason he was driven to act out and finally kill himself.
