Rugby has been called a game for gentlemen… played by ruffians. On this evidence, you’d have to add that rugby players are also a pretty tough group of athletes.
During a game in France between England club side Saracens and local team Clermont, Saracens prop forward Vincent Koch had his shirt ripped clean off his back as he toiled in a set piece of play called a scrum.
Not that he was worried. After struggling to put his shirt back on, Koch simply gave up and tossed it to the ground and continued throwing himself into tackles as play moved on. Plenty of people noticed, too.
Alas it was all in vain for the Koch, as the French club overcame his Saracens by virtue of a late try, but nobody could accuse Koch of shirking his work.
Even though he was ultimately on the losing side, it’s still one for the 27-year-old South Africa-born rugby player’s highlight reel.
