Thor hammered the president, softly.
New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard took to Twitter to poke the president.
“Sports Illustrated called and said I was probably going to be Sportsman of the Year,” the righty wrote, “but it was going to take a long photo shoot and interview. I’m not proud of my recent perm and have a[n] interpretive dance class at the interview time so I turned it down! No Thanks SI!!”
The tweet mirrors one sent out last week by Donald Trump, who claimed he turned down the chance for a rare repeat of Time‘s “Person of the Year.”
Syndergaard perhaps poked fun at himself as much as the president. The righty went 1-2 with a 2.97 earned-run average (ERA) after injuries cut short his 2017 campaign. The disappointing year followed two solid seasons in which he went a combined 23-16 with a sub-three ERA while striking out 384 batters. After winning an All-Star nod in 2016, Syndergaard spent most of 2017 on the disabled list, returning in September after missing May, June, July, and August.
