Fans can now mark down Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, as a fan of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and believer, that Kaepernick should have a job in the NFL.
Many noticed on Sunday that Curry jumped to Instagram account to say “#freekaep,” during the 49ers-Panthers game.
Several social media users noticed Curry’s post and relayed it to followers:
While many repeated Curry’s post, the entry no longer seems to appear on Curry’s “stephencurry30” Instagram account.
Instagram isn’t the only place the two time NBA champion announced his appreciation of the out of work NFL quarterback.
Curry spoke to the Charlotte Observer to praise the out-of-work quarterback:
“He definitely should be in the NFL. If you’ve been around the NFL, the top 64 quarterbacks, and he’s not one of them? Then I don’t know what game I’m watching.
“Obviously his stance and his peaceful protest when he was playing here kind of shook up the world, and I think for the better. But hopefully he gets back in the league – because he deserves to be here and he deserves an opportunity to play. He’s in his prime and can make a team better.”
Curry added that he hoped Kaepernick’s efforts would foster change, saying, “all that he’s gone through in the past year actually leads to some awakening.”
