Damontre Moore has bounced around quite a bit during his time in the NFL. However the DeSoto, Texas, native abounds with optimism about his future after signing with his hometown team this offseason.

Moore believes that he can be the “light bulb” in the Dallas defense, under defensive coordinator Rob Marinelli. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Moore said, “I considered a couple of other options. But the Cowboys showed me the most love. They acted like they wanted me. And just to have the opportunity to play for your hometown time, I was like ‘why not?’”

Moore has struggled to live up to expectations since entering the league as a third round draft pick of the Giants in 2013. Thought by some to be capable of getting close to ten sacks per season, instead Moore only has only notched ten sacks in his entire four-year career.

While the Cowboys still don’t have a set position for Moore along the defensive front, it hasn’t stopped him from believing that the universe has guided him to this particular point and time in history. Though, his recollection of history could use a little work. Specifically, that which pertains to the discovery of the light bulb.

While talking to reporters, Moore misattributed the discovery of the light bulb to Albert Einstein, instead of Thomas Edison. Moore said, “Everything happens for reason. Like Drake said, ‘It’s better late than never’…and like Einstein said, ‘There are 300 ways to not make a light bulb. Once I got that one way, then I can make it.’ This is my one way to make that light bulb.”

Moore later posted a retraction on Twitter, acknowledging his mistake.

A mistake that will be forgotten after his first sack.
