It seems Peyton Manning has received mention for every job imaginable since leaving football, and linked to everything from broadcaster, sportscaster, politician, team owner, in addition to captain of industry in various entrepreneurial ventures.
However, at least for now, there’s one future venture in which we can remove Manning from consideration.
Since word surfaced that Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander may retire instead of running for office again in 2020, rumors picked up that Manning might run to replace Alexander.
Manning addressed those reports on Wednesday, as a keynote speaker at Adobe Summit 2017 in Las Vegas.
“I don’t know where that came from. Last week I was going to run a team, this week I going to apparently run for Senate, and next week I’ll be an astronaut,” Manning said, via Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post. “I have no interest in the political world, but would like to continue serving communities.”
Of course, much like those that say they have no interest in getting married, saying you have no interest in the political world could very well mean that you will most definitely one day be neck-deep in the political world.
But, there’s no rush for Manning. Playing in celebrity golf tournaments and making millions doing pizza commercials seem to be enough to hold his attention…for now.
