Johnny Manziel took to Twitter Thursday to say he is trying to become a better person, thanking those who helped him through a “rough” 2016.
The Heisman winner and former Cleveland Brown was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He also faced possible additional suspension as the NFL investigated whether he violated its personal conduct policy.
The Browns, who also had a rough 2016, released Manziel in March.
Manziel is working on a comeback to the NFL after his quick fall from grace that included clubbing, partying and domestic violence charges.
