After coming back strong from injuries, Philadelphia 76ers Center Joel Embiid is in the hunt for a slot in the upcoming All-Star Game. As a way to gain votes, he cleverly used a fake Donald Trump tweet to convince fans to vote for him.
With practically the whole world following every tweet President-elect Donald J. Trump posts, Embiid apparently thought that he could get a boost for his All-Star voting by throwing Trump into one of his tweets to fans. Along with a series of tweets about the All-Star competition, Embiid slipped in this one making it seem like Trump may have mentioned him:
We’ll have to wait and see if Embid’s little trick will work. So far he is fourth in the Eastern Conference with 221,984 fan votes, according to SportingNews.com.
Embiid needs the boost, too. Nicknamed “The Process,” Embiid was third overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft but due to a broken navicular bone in his foot he sat out the entire 2014-15 season. Then, due to a lack of sufficient healing, he went on to miss the next season as well. His long awaited return to the boards came in September of 2016.
