On Monday, in a very telling interview on the Fox News Channel program Fox & Friends, Tim Tebow discussed Colin Kaepernick, baseball, the pain after getting cut by a team, and that time Bill Belichick cost him an opportunity to make a million dollars in a single day.

In 2013, while Tebow competed for a spot on the Patriots roster, he approached head coach Bill Belichick for advice on an opportunity. A company had offered Tebow a million dollars to do a one-time commercial endorsement.

Not wanting to rock the very tightly-run boat that Belichick helms in New England, Tebow asked Belichick for advice on whether or not he should do the commercial, or if the coach felt it might distract the team.

The entire interview is worth your time, however the part referencing Tebow’s very decent proposal to Belichick starts at the 2:25 mark:

This episode says more about Belichick than it does Tebow, especially since Belichick knew that Tebow had next to no shot at making the Patriots roster yet still told him not to do the endorsement. Tim Tebow has earning power away from football, well beyond that of the normal athlete, but unless Tebow planned to endorse a mind-melting tractor beam with the power to enslave the human race, what kind of life-altering harm could have resulted from Tebow doing a simple endorsement, especially with Belichick knowing that he would soon play a large part in ending Tebow’s football career?

No one disputes Bill Belichick’s place as one of the greatest coaches of all time, but this makes him appear seriously cold-blooded.
