After being released by the Cleveland Browns, troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel once again tries to straighten out his life.
In a long article at the Washington Post, Kent Babb sums up Manziel’s “turbulent” life succinctly.
Babb notes that Manziel has “in the past five months has been sued, is facing a grand jury indictment, been involved in two car accidents and whose own father has publicly called a ‘druggie’ and questioned whether he will live until December, long enough to reach his 24th birthday?”
With all his recent troubles, though, many of Manziel’s high school and college friends are wondering what happened?
It’s a fall from grace that friends, family and even the player has lamented at times.
But since he was let go by the Browns, Manziel’s behavior has gone on unabated. As part of the Post story, Manziel insisted he’s doing well — quite despite the constant partying and a list of lawsuits pending connected to his behavior.
Still, in an emailed statement, Manziel insisted everything is great.
“I’m actually doing well. I have good friends around me supporting what I do and I try to support them in what they want to do. I’m not saying I’m never drinking again, but for now just mostly being healthy. I’ve got a killer gym in my house and I can spend time working out,” he said.
But then Manziel brought up his football career all on his own, saying, “I’m interested in doing a lot of different things in my life — including football — but, right now, I’m just exploring options and waiting to see what the future holds.”
It appears that Manziel holds on to the thought of reigniting his football career, but even for the player it seems a vague thought.
