The 141st Preakness Stakes takes place today at around 6:45 p.m. Eastern at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.
Nyquist runs as a favorite against the field at 4-5. But he likely runs in the rain in the quest to win the second jewel of the Triple Crown. The 1 3/16-mile race runs on a course slightly abbreviated from the Kentucky Derby. But weather, with an almost 100 percent chance of heavy rain forecast, likely factors in to the results far more than distance.
Nyquist’s official Twitter account shows that this online Mr. Ed of sorts has not let the pressure adversely influence him:
Nyquist seeks to become the 36th horse to win at Pimlico after first winning at Churchill Downs en route to becoming the 13th Triple Crown winner next month at Belmont Park. The last two years have seen California Chrome and American Pharoah do what Nyquist seeks to accomplish today.
