Albuquerque police gave Jon Jones five tickets for what they called drag racing. The former UFC light heavyweight champion gave the cops a piece of his mind in return.
Saying he merely revved the engine of his white corvette to acknowledge fans, Jon Jones denied exceeding the posted 35-MPH limit and issued a number of nasty insults at the officer meting out the fines. A video obtained by TMZ shows Jones calling the policeman “despicable,” “ridiculous,” a “f—ing liar,” and a pigs.
The contested event occurred on Thursday night.
The controversy on the roads follows an incident last year in which Jones ran a red light in the same city, which caused a crash that resulted in a pregnant woman breaking an arm. Jones pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident in September. He agreed to perform community service and received probation. In exchange, the court agreed to drop felony charges upon completion of the service and probation.
The UFC shortly thereafter reinstated the 21-1 fighter. Jones faces Daniel Cormier in April in attempt to regain the belt he never lost inside the cage.
