As the East Coast endures its first massive winter storm of the year, the NBA has canceled two Saturday games as the storm gears up to snarl the New York/Washington corridor in a storm that could dump more than two feet of snow.
Canceled is the matchup between the Celtics and 76ers in Philadelphia. The game has been rescheduled for Sunday at 7PM Eastern Time. Also canceled is game between the Jazz and Wizards in Washington. The league did not announce what day the makeup game will be played.
The NBA isn’t the only big sports league altering plans due to the storm. The National Hockey League had already jumped to action canceling Friday’s Washington Capitals game against the Anaheim Ducks. The NHL could possibly cancel other games as well, but no decisions have been made.
In addition to NBA and NHL game changes, NASCAR also altered plans due to the storm. Officials announced that its 2016 Hall of Fame induction ceremony scheduled to be held Friday in Charlotte, North Carolina, will be rescheduled to Saturday afternoon.
