A hospital released Jason Day’s wife, who says she harbors no hard feelings against LeBron James for barreling into her in pursuit of a loose ball Thursday night.
“He was just doing his job,” Ellie Day said through her husband’s agent. “Go Cavs.”
Mrs. Day left the arena on a stretcher and in a head brace after James crashed into her in the fourth quarter of the 104-100 victory of the Cleveland Cavaliers over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Day sat in courtside seats with her husband. She appeared to brace herself for the approach of James. But the force of the 250-pound forward knocked her and her seat over. Apart from James’ lower back appearing to impact her head, Day looked as though she may have endured a second blow when she hit the floor.
James saved the ball from going out of bounds off the Cavaliers. But he slung it into the arms of the opposition.
Medical personnel diagnosed Mrs. Day as suffering from concussion-like symptoms.
Jason Day won the PGA Championship earlier this year and currently ranks as the world’s #2 golfer. The couple own a home near Columbus and occasionally attend Cavaliers games.
