The unheralded Houston Texans invaded the home turf of the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals and made their “0” go. Then Houston’s best player added insult to injury.
Kinda. Sorta.
“Our goal was to come out here and make the Red Rifle look like a Red Ryder BB gun,” J.J. Watt explained to ESPN after the 10-6 Texans win. Watt sacked the red-headed Andy Dalton late in the game, and the defense he leads picked off the All Pro-level QB and held him to zero touchdowns and under 200 yards passing.
The Red Rifle didn’t like his nickname twisted into the top item on Ralphie’s Christmas list.
“It’s disappointing for one of the best players in this league to come out and say something like that,” Dalton said when read Watt’s comments after the game. “So, that’s all I’m going to say about that. He’s a good player, but for him to be one of the best in this league and to show that integrity, it shows what he’s about, and that’s disappointing.”
It’s not as though Watt called the sensitive ginger a JT….
