Ronda Rousey broke her silence after Holly Holm broke her at UFC 193.
The UFC’s former 135-pound women’s champion explained on Instagram that she looks to take a long break and thanked her supporters for their concern over her health. She noted, “I’m fine.”
The 12-1 fighter seeks to return next summer at UFC 200 in Las Vegas. Rousey prepares to costar with Mark Wahlberg in an action movie called Mile 22, appear as herself in a biopic, and play the late Patrick Swayze’s part in a Road House remake. Hopefully, the producers don’t cast Holly Holm as a rowdy bar patron. Things could get ugly.
Holm knocked out Rousey in the first minute of the second round of their bout in Melbourne, Australia, with a head kick on Sunday. She looked anything but fine looking up at the lights with Holm’s hammerfists coming down on her.
UFC President Dana White also looked anything but fine when the movie star/bestselling author/product pitchwoman holding his promotion’s belt lost on Sunday in Australia. His face projected the despondency of a man just robbed of his life savings.
“This changes a lot, obviously,” White told Fox Sports. “But I wouldn’t expect to see her back anytime soon.”
