A calf injury forced lineal heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko to postpone his October 24 bout with Tyson Fury.

“Dear fans,” the 64-3 Klitschko says in English in an Instagram video, “I am sorry to inform you that I have had to postpone my fight with Tyson Fury due to a minor injury. I am working hard to reschedule the fight, and as soon as I know, I will keep you posted about the new date.”

A message to my fans.

The announcement comes just days after the six-foot-nine Fury called the 39-year-old Ukrainian an “old fool” as the Brit wore a Batman costume at a London press conference.

The undefeated Fury, due to his size and ability to promote a fight, sparks more interest in this bout than any involving Klitschko since probably his 2011 match with David Haye, another mouthy Brit, who, unlike Fury, gave up significant size to the champion. Dusselforf’s ESPRIT Arena, selling all of its 55,000 seats, remains the venue for the event.
