Chip Kelly called Tim Tebow not “good enough” to rate a third-string spot on the Philadelphia Eagles after cutting him on Friday. Tebow, who impressed most observers with his preseason play, spared the coach any cutting words in return.
“Tim’s really progressed but we didn’t feel like he was good enough to be the three right now,” Kelly informed the press. “He just needs to get out there and get more reps.” Tebow, who seemed content when Dan Leberfeld of Breitbart Sports caught up to him on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium, stoically offered that the decision was “not up to me.”
In his Tweet on Saturday, Tebow hinted at who the decision might have been up to.
