Joey Bosa is the top student-athlete in Ohio and Duke Williams is the top athlete in Alabama according to early voting in the “Best Returning College Players” ballot. Votes have been cast in other states for stars in track, baseball, softball, wrestling, basketball, speed skating, and boxing.
As a sophomore, Bosa lived in opponents’ backfields with 13.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss, and anyone who thought he was doing it against a “soft” Big Ten learned otherwise when he helped OSU to the national title and the Wisconsin team he manhandled beat Auburn in another bowl. (see Ohio Top 10+ here)
It looked like A’Shawn Robinson might give the University of Alabama the top player in their state based on the Value Add Sports Rating, but Auburn wide receiver Duke Williams has passed him in early voting, which has come from around the country from media and the devout fans who pay attention this far before the start of the season. (See Alabama Top 10+ list here)
Voting in all 50 states and DC started with one top 10 ballot based on player’s computer Value Add Sports Rating (where you can view all student-athletes on a 2015-16 football roster or basketball roster). You can also vote by sending an email to valueaddsports@gmail.com or a fax to 1-334-460-9779 and listing up to 10 players in order, then you can check for the updated Top 10 in each state by going to the Best Returning College Players site.
