On Sunday, Tiger Woods reacted to Jordan Spieth matching his 1997 record 18-under par performance.
According to Woods, the course was easier than normal, thus allowing the scores to be lower. Woods, who claims he had to pop a bone back into place in his wrist after hitting a hidden root with his club, finished 13 strokes behind Spieth.
At one point, Spieth was 19-under, which was the first time in the history of The Masters anyone boasted such an impressive number. Spieth’s performance made him the youngest man, save Tiger Woods, to wear the green jacket.
“With the length of the golf course, I didn’t think that people would be getting that low, but they kept it soft all week,” the four-time Masters champion contended on Sunday. “And that’s something that the older guys in the clubhouse and in the Champions Locker Room were all talking about, that we haven’t seen it that soft. It wasn’t springy until today.”
