Bubba Watson looks to repeat at Augusta. His colleagues on the PGA Tour look to retreat if he ever finds himself in a fistfight.
ESPN posed the following scenario to 102 golfers: “______ is in a fight in the parking lot. You’re not helping him.”
The most common answer? Bubba Watson. The results weren’t close. The two-time Masters champion garnered 23 votes. Patrick Reed, Rory Sabbatini, and Robert Allenby, who recently endured a real-life beating, followed far behind.
Watson, who took the survey, told ESPN he volunteered his name, too. He says he has never been in a fistfight. His name suggests otherwise.
The poll revealed interesting results. Most pros want the PGA to continue to test for marijuana, 59 seconded the idea of the PGA announcing fines and suspensions, the pros named Ian Poulter more than anyone else as the golfer they would take car shopping, and Cyprus Point reigned as the course respondents most wanted to play at before they die.
By a 64-38 margin, the golfers think Tiger Woods will win another major.
Many of the anonymous golfers surveyed tee off, on a ball rather than Bubba, on Thursday at Augusta National for day one of the four-day tournament.
