Jon Gruden remains with Monday Night Football through 2021. Brother Jay stays with the Washington Redskins next year.

Gruden the Older signed a contract extension with ESPN to call games for the next seven years. Broadcast partner Mike Tirico announced the deal at halftime of the Saints blowout of the Bears Monday night.

Despite Gruden the Younger’s difficulties winning games and his impotence to make his boss look like a genius for dealing the future for RG3, Dan Snyder has reportedly let him know that he won’t be receiving the Mike Shanahan/Jim Zorn/Marty Schottenheimer treatment–at least not yet.

At 3-11, the Redskins currently look good for the fifth or sixth pick in the 2015 draft.

Given the downgrading of Monday Night Football from its privileged status as the venue for marquee games, Jon may see Jay more than just over the holidays next season. And when they meet, Jay might want to thank Jon for limiting the supply of good coaches in the job market.
