Miami joins powers Duke and Kentucky as the only schools with more than two Top 100 players in the early Value Add rankings, which appear here first and then will be updated on the www.valueaddbasketball.com list of all 4,000 players. We list the top 400 below–these make up the top 10% of all Division 1 players.
We list the player’s team, his position, and jersey number. We then list his total Value Add figure, meaning how many points he impacts his team’s score on an average night over if the team had to replace him with a solid backup. For example, Gonzaga defeated St. John’s by seven points, so we estimate Gonzaga would have lost by four points if Kevin Pangos was unable to play (see #3 ranking).
- Northwestern St. SF #23 Zikiteran Woodley, 11.64, Notes: 25+ plus points in 5 straight including Okl, Texas Tech, La Tech, 73% of 2-pointers made. Jalan West last year.
- Illinois SF #24 Rayvonte Rice, 11.43, Notes: in upset of Baylor 17 points on 5 of 9 two-pointers, and 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Then 22/12 in loss to Miami.
- Gonzaga PG #4 Kevin Pangos, 10.94, Notes: POY candidate – 48% 3-pointers, 71% two-pointers, 90% free throws and 6 steals a game to lead 7-0 Gonzaga to wins over SMU, Georgia and St. John’s. 4 other Zags in top 150.
- Harvard SF #23 Wesley Saunders, 10.92, Notes: 27 in huge upset of Umass including 8-13 two-pointers, 2-3 three-pointers, and in near upset of Holy Cross 24 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists.
- UC Davis SG #3 Corey Hawkins, 10.73, Notes: Ex-Arizona St player has UC Davis 6-0 after only 9 wins last year – one of top steals (3.7% of trips) and unbelievable 3-pointers (17-31 for 55%).
- Colorado C #40 Josh Scott, 10.52, Notes: 6-foot-10 among leaders in offensive rebounds, blocked shots, shooting percentage AND 90% from the line.
- Alabama SF #20 Levi Randolph, 10.46, Notes: 28 points, 3 steals in big upset of Arizona St and only 5 turnovers all year.

- Wichita St. SG #31 Ron Baker, 9.44, Notes: With preseason No. 1 Van Vleet cold early, Baker has stepped up 13-23 in 3-pointers last three games and 6 rebounds in OT game vs. Utah.
- Incarnate Word PF #5 Traylin Farris, 9.31, Notes: A bit of a fluke because as top offensive player at www.kenpom.com for just 19 minutes played against a D1 team with upset of Princeton (5-6 from floor, 6-7 from line, 3 steals), but Walker and Badillo may stay in top 10% for 2nd year team.
- Seton Hall SG #4 Sterling Gibbs, 9.29
- Miami FL SF #10 Sheldon McClellan, 9.12, Notes: Joins Duke and Kentucky as only teams with more than 2 top 100 players.

- UC Santa Barbara C #15 Alan Williams, 9
- Evansville C #55 Egidijus Mockevicius, 8.9
- Utah PG #55 Delon Wright, 8.85, Notes: preseason No. 1 played all 45 minutes in huge upset of Wichita St., hitting game winning 2-pointer to go 5 of 9 and dished 7 assists with Van Vleet locked in on defense on him.
- Missouri St. SF #11 Marcus Marshall, 8.76
- Kentucky C #15 Willie Cauley-Stein, 8.75, Notes: Providence’s LaDontae Henton (#48) entered Kentucky game as the hottest player in the country, averaging over 30 points in three straight games against top 100 (Flo St, Notre Dame Yale) and one of the best at getting to the line. Cauley-Stein held him to 1-8 from the floor, no free throws and no assists. Remains on of the top in STEALS, blocked shots, offensive rebounds, and hitting 64% of his shots – some questioned me for naming him 3rd team All-American last year.
- Iona PF #1 Isaiah Williams, 8.62
- Kentucky SG #1 Devin Booker, 8.62, Notes: Just missed having 6 Wildcats in top 100 (Ulis 105th) – only other teams with more than two are Duke and Miami.

- Texas C #52 Myles Turner, 8.35, Notes: will find out tonight if he is the one guy who can lead a challenge to Kentucky.
