Dallas Safari Club to Cancel Rhino Hunt If US Agency Won't Okay Trophy Request

The Dallas Safari Club (DSC) indicates they will cancel the black rhino hunt Corey Knowlton won in a January auction if the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service rejects Knowlton’s request to bring the animal back as a trophy.

According to the AP, the US agency is giving “extra scrutiny to Knowlton’s request because of the rise of poaching” in Africa. The DSC plans to cancel the hunt and refund the money Knowlton “pledged to a rhino preservation fund [in Namibia]” if the US agency rejects his trophy permit request.

On January 17 Breitbart News reported that Knowlton’s wife and children all faced death threats after he won the rhino hunt. Knowlton also faced numerous threats on his life.

Knowlton said people told him that they not only wanted to kill him and his family, but also wanted to burn them afterward. He told then-CNN host Piers Morgan that people said they wanted to “make a ‘Saw’ movie out of [the Knowlton family].”
