ESPN is keeping it all in the Obama family.
The network will reportedly hire Craig Robinson, First Lady Michelle Obama’s brother and President Barack Obama’s brother-in-law, as a college basketball studio analyst months after he was fired from Oregon State. President Barack Obama has done a “Baracktology” segment with ESPN’s Andy Katz from the White House every March since he has been in office.
TheBigLead’s Jason McIntyre reported on Wednesday:
ESPN is beefing up its college basketball team this Fall, and people familiar with the network’s hiring process say the Worldwide Leader is hiring former Oregon State coach Craig Robinson (aka President Barack Obama’s brother-in-law) and former Arkansas coach Stan Heath. Robinson isn’t expected to be on the set of Gameday, but his primary role will be as a studio analyst. People spoke on the condition of anonymity because the hiring hasn’t been announced.
Robinson was fired in May after going 93-104 in six underachieving seasons at Oregon State. His teams did not make a trip to the NCAA tournament during his tenure. Robinson took over during the “2008-09 season while his brother-in-law was campaigning to be president on his ‘hope and change’ platform.”
