San Francisco Giants starter Tim Lincecum has no-hit the Padres twice since last July. An assortment of Chicago Cubs pitchers eight-hit San Diego in the sixth inning of Thursday’s game.
Fifteen Padres players stepped to the plate in the inning, hitting eight singles. More remarkably, all nine Padres in the line-up scored a run. Cubs pitchers Edwin Jackson, Brian Schlitter, Wesley Wright combined for the eight-hit inning.
The Padres won the game at Wrigley 13-3.
Despite the offensive explosion, the Padres still rank dead last in runs with 3.09 per game in 2014.
