The college football national champion under the new playoff system will receive a new trophy.

It’s tall. It’s gold. And it looks like a cross between an ice-cream cone and the Olympic torch.

The group behind the new college football playoffs unveiled the new trophy on Monday. It’s made of 24-karat gold, bronze, and stainless steel. “We are confident that this will become an icon of our game,” College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock said Monday of the 35-pound trophy.

“We’re extremely proud of this piece of art,” Hancock announced. “It stands at a total height of three feet…. The actual trophy can be lifted out of the base and hoisted in quite an inspirational manner. We are going to save the first hoist for January 12, 2015 at AT&T Stadium.”
