On Saturday, disgraced Uruguayan superstar and serial biter Luis Suarez claimed he did not bite Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini last week. He claimed he just lost his balance.
“In no way [did] it happen how you have described, as a bite or intent to bite,” he said, according to an Associated Press translation. “After the impact … I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent. At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth.”
Suarez was suspended for nine matches and four months and fined 100,000 Swiss Francs. Uruguay’s soccer officials have even tried to claim that the photos of Suarez biting Chiellini were photoshopped.
The marks on Chiellini’s shoulder prove otherwise, especially given Suarez has conclusively bitten at least two other players during his career.
