Some of the world’s most dangerous terrorists at Guantanamo love watching World Cup soccer.
In fact, it is the most popular program among the 149 detainees accused of some of the most ruthless acts of terror.
“Right now, it’s the World Cup,” Navy Cmdr. John Filostat, a spokesman for Joint Task Force Guantanamo, told USA Today on Sunday when asked what the most popular television program among the GITMO detainees was.
According to USA Today, “detainees watch the matches on television in their detention camp in a communal setting” while “the audio in their native language piped to them through earphones.”
Monday’s World Cup games include contests between Germany and Portugal, Iran and Nigeria, and the United States and Ghana.
