The wife of embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has officially announced that she is selling the basketball team and is fielding bids for that purpose.

In fact, Shelly Sterling has already scheduled a meeting with former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to discuss the sale of the NBA team. Others seeking to purchase the team include a group headed by former player Grant Hill, another group fronted by Magic Johnson, and a third featuring Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and entertainment mogul David Geffen.

Since NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life from the NBA, the sports world has been waiting for Sterling’s decision as to whether or not he was going to sell the team.

Even as he tried apologizing for comments that angered thousands of Americans, it finally came clear that Sterling would have to sell the team. By May 23, Sterling had surrendered control of the team to his estranged wife, Shelly. Three days later, Shelly was reported to have been fielding up to six different offers for the team.

In January of 2014, Forbes magazine estimated the Clippers worth as $575 million, but some are claiming that Sterling may be looking for as much as $1.5 billion.
