Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling asked for forgiveness in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper that will air on Monday. Cooper interviewed Sterling on Sunday.
“I’m a good member who made a mistake and I’m apologizing and I’m asking for forgiveness,” Sterling reportedly says in the interview. “Am I entitled to one mistake, am I after 35 years? I mean, I love my league, I love my partners. Am I entitled to one mistake? It’s a terrible mistake, and I’ll never do it again.”
According to TMZ, “Cooper flew in to Los Angeles this morning, checked into his hotel, and made a bee-line to Sterling’s Beverly Hills house, where the interview went down. Before the interview, Sterling met with his lawyer, who was present during the interview with Cooper.”
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life after TMZ released an audio recording in which Sterling tells V. Stiviano not to bring “black people” to Clippers games. Barbara Walters has interviewed V. Stiviano and Shelly Sterling, who has said she intends to file for divorce and fight to control her stake in the team.
