After NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life and said he fully expected to get 3/4 of the NBA owners to vote to remove him and force him to sell his team, reports have surfaced that Magic Johnson will be the frontrunner to buy the team if the owners indeed vote to remove Sterling.

Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Johnson and Guggenheim Partners, which also purchased the Dodgers, are likely to be “front-and-center in pursuit of the Clippers.”

The team could reportedly be sold for $1 billion. Johnson, the Lakers great, used to own a share of the Lakers before he bought a share of the Dodgers.

Sterling allegedly made his racist remarks on an audio recording with a woman that was supposedly his girlfriend after he got incensed that the woman on the tape posted a photo with Magic Johnson on Instagram.

Sterling told the woman not to take photos with black people and never to bring black people to his games.
