The NFL is reportedly in talks to move the Pro Bowl to Arizona in 2015 as the state is currently surrounded by controversy over the “religious freedom” bill that Republican Gov. Jan Brewer must sign or veto by Saturday.
According to NFL.com, “active and serious discussions have taken place over moving next January’s All-Star event to Arizona, the site of Super Bowl XLIX.” The NFL has said it would continue to follow the situation if Brewer signs the bill into law.
Brewer’s advisers have indicated that she will veto the bill as some in Arizona, including the state’s Super Bowl Committee, have become concerned that the NFL may move the Super Bowl from the state if the law is enacted.
Arizona’s S.B. 1062 would allow business owners to refuse service to those who are gay and lesbian based on religious grounds. The 2015 Super Bowl is scheduled to be played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
