WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 (UPI) —
Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before NFL leaders meet with team name opponents.
A person knowledgeable about the situation said there wasn’t any indication that Snyder has moved from his position against changing the team’s name, the Washington Post reported Monday.
The meeting this week between Snyder and Goodell “is to get more of an understanding from the club as to how it plans to address the issue,” the source told the newspaper.
NFL officials are to meet Wednesday with representatives of the Oneida Indian Nation, which has called the Washington football team’s name offensive to American Indians and has called for it to be changed.
